Corning cell culture products
Cell culture refers to the harvesting of cells from an animal or plant and their subsequent growth in a favorable artificial environment. Cells may be taken directly from the tissue and separated before culture by enzymatic or mechanical methods, or they may be derived from a previously established cell line or strain.
Cell culture is one of the main tools used in cell and molecular biology, providing excellent model systems for studying the natural physiology and biochemistry of cells (e.g., metabolic studies, aging), the effects of drugs and toxic compounds on cells, and mutagenesis. and carcinogenesis is also used in drug screening and development, and large-scale production of biological compounds (eg, vaccines, therapeutic proteins). The main advantage of its use for any of these applications is the consistency and reproducibility of the results that can be obtained from the use of a batch of clonal cells.
